Medical Marijuana Initiative November 2020
Mississippi residents will have the chance to vote on a ballot initiative that would make medical marijuana legal in Mississippi and would establish a method of regulation. Ballot Initiative Measure No. 65, aka “Medical Marijuana 2020” will appear on the ballot in November 2020.
Measure 65 was proposed by the group Mississippians for Compassionate Care. Other initiatives have been lately introduced as a way to undermine and confuse momentum around Measure 65.
Mississippi has a long history of cannabis research. For decades the University of Mississippi has been home to the U.S. government’s official marijuana crop that is used for research purposes. The university’s federally-funded program is called the Marijuana Research Project.
